BACK PAIN

CHIROPRACTIC & BACK PAIN

“1 in 8 Canadians report having a chronic back problem.” — Canadian Chiropractic Association

Back pain and spinal pain are among the most common chronic conditions in Canada. Approximately 80% of people are  expected to have at least one episode of back pain at some point in their life. It most commonly affects individuals in their  30’s and 40’s, but it can affect people at any stage of life. Many people are surprised to learn that many children,  teenagers, and young adults can experience back pain too. Over the years we have seen many people devastated by this  frustrating condition.

Stresses of everyday life (physical traumas, exposure to toxins, and even negative thoughts) accumulate in the body and  can negatively impact spinal health. If the body is unable to adapt to these stresses, vertebral subluxations (shifts in the alignment of the vertebra of the spine) can result. Left uncorrected, these misalignments of the spine can lead to a  process known as subluxation degeneration. Subluxation degeneration affects the health and function of the muscles,  ligaments, blood vessels, bones, joints, and most importantly the nervous system.

Chiropractors are very well known for their ability to both relieve and correct many forms of back pain that patients suffer  from. Many studies verify the safety and effectiveness of chiropractic care for the treatment and management of back  pain. The aim of chiropractic care is to provide a non-surgical approach to spinal correction. Chiropractors are uniquely  trained to detect and correct subluxations that may be causing interference to the nervous system. This approach leads to  more long-term results by not only addressing the patient’s symptoms (back pain), but also addressing the cause  (vertebral subluxations) of the patient’s symptoms.

Chiropractors are the only profession that specialize in the detection and correction of subluxation degeneration and  nervous system interference. In fact, addressing interference to the nervous system caused by spinal injuries and  misalignments is the primary focus of the chiropractic profession. It is also the primary reason for their success with  helping millions of people experience health improvements.

At Scott Family Chiropractic, we focus on a holistic approach to health care and pain relief. Our clinic ensures that each  new patient who comes into our clinic undergoes a thorough health history, a detailed spinal examination, a nervous  system evaluation, and any other necessary diagnostic testing, prior to beginning chiropractic care with us. This way we  can do our very best to provide you with the spinal health care that you deserve.
