NECK PAIN
CHIROPRACTIC & NECK PAIN
"The average person spends up to 4 hours a day with their heads tilted forward reading and texting on their smart phones and hand-held devices, amassing up to 1,400 hours of excess, abnormal cervical spine stress per year." — Kenneth Hansraj, M.D.
The number of people experiencing neck pain seems to be growing each year. Every day in our clinic we care for patients who are suffering from neck pain and the effects of subluxation degeneration in their spine. One of the reasons for this, is the drastic increase in technology use. As technology has advanced, it has been integrated into so many aspects of our day-to-day work, school, and home activities. This has improved our lives in so many ways… except when it comes to our posture.
Pro-longed technology use has been shown to have a damaging effect on our posture. Additionally, stresses of everyday life (physical traumas, exposure to toxins, and even negative thoughts) accumulate in the body and can negatively impact spinal health. If the body in unable to adapt to these stresses, vertebral subluxations (shifts in the alignment of the vertebra of the spine) can result. Left uncorrected, these misalignments of the spine can lead to a process known as subluxation degeneration. Subluxation degeneration affects the health and function of the muscles, ligaments, blood vessels, bones, joints, and most importantly the nervous system.
At Scott Family Chiropractic we seek to identify the cause of the problem because we know that neck pain is usually a symptom of something deeper than a simple, “I slept wrong,” or “I moved weird.” Most people assume that the problem will just go away, and it sometimes does, for a little while, but without properly assessing and correcting the underlying problem, many people end up with much more serious damage in the long-term.
For many Canadians struggling with neck pain, they look for a quick solution to pain relief. However, our approach is different. As much as helping our patients get out of pain quickly is a priority, we want to work to correct the cause of the pain. This approach leads to more long-term results by not only addressing the patient’s symptoms (neck pain), but also addressing the cause (vertebral subluxations) of the patient’s symptoms.
Chiropractors are the only profession that specialize in the detection and correction of subluxation degeneration and nervous system interference. In fact, addressing interference to the nervous system caused by spinal injuries and misalignments is the primary focus of the chiropractic profession. It is also the primary reason for their success with helping millions of people experience health improvements.
At Scott Family Chiropractic, we utilize a holistic approach to health care and to pain relief. Our clinic ensures that each new patient who comes into our clinic undergoes a thorough health history, a detailed spinal examination, a nervous system evaluation, and any other necessary diagnostic testing, prior to beginning chiropractic care with us.
